Jan Hmcir explained that she painted the picture in the Gudbrandsdal style for display in the <br />community center in which the Sons of Norway have been meeting. <br />Jeanne Engelsmeier, President of Sons of Norway, stated that a plaque was also made to go <br />along with the painting and is presented to the City to say thank you. <br />Mayor Strommen thanked the Sons of Norway for the items and for the choice of the group to <br />meet in Ramsey. <br />Ms. Hmcir commented that she has been pleased that six students from Anoka Senior High <br />School have been taking Rosemalling classes with them. <br />2.03: Highway 10 Update <br />Elwyn Tinklenberg, The Tinklenberg Group, stated that it is an interesting time of year in the <br />legislature as there is a lot of discussion and details being worked out behind the scenes. He <br />stated that transportation is a key bill this year. He noted that there have been a number of <br />productive meetings and commented that the representatives from this area are great to work <br />with and have continued the Highway 10 efforts. He discussed the possibility of grant funding <br />through TIGER and FASTLANE, which Ramsey will be applying for and advised of the support <br />that Ramsey has received in applying for those grants. He stated that this past week Anoka <br />County announced the date of Friday, May 20th for the ribbon cutting for the Armstrong. <br />overpass. He noted that project continues to be an important symbol for the progress on <br />Highway 10. <br />Councilmember LeTourneau thanked Mr. Tinklenberg for his efforts as Highway 10 is an <br />important issue for Ramsey and the other communities along the corridor. <br />2.04: Introduction of Fire Chief Kohner <br />Mayor Strommen welcomed the newly appointed Fire Chief Matt Kohner and invited him to <br />come forward and introduce himself to the community, noting that he has already been appointed <br />and began his position. <br />Fire Chief Kohner thanked the Mayor and Council. He stated that although this position is new <br />to him he began his service in Ramsey in 2002 in a paid on -call role. He stated that he was <br />pleased to accept the position and begin his work in Ramsey. <br />3. CITIZEN INPUT <br />John Enstrom, 8702 181st Avenue, presented the Council with his brochure announcing the third <br />annual Wounded Warrior fishing event on Veteran's Lake that will occur on August 3rd. He <br />hoped to have 150 to 200 wounded veterans at the event. He stated that he would welcome <br />volunteers for the event. He noted that the event was well attended the previous year and hoped <br />perhaps the event could be publicized in the Ramsey Resident. He noted that he is also present to <br />bring forward complaints that he has received in regard to the black dirt specifications of the City <br />City Council / April 12, 2016 <br />Page 3 of 13 <br />
