Grant Award from CenterPoint Energy. City staff has received notification of a grant award <br />in the amount of $2,500 from CenterPoint Energy to be used for the purchase of automated external <br />defibrillators. A formal presentation will be scheduled at a future Council meeting. Attached to <br />the Weekly Update is the Grant Notification Letter from CenterPoint Energy. <br />Flag Retirement Ceremony. John and Bonnie Enstrom are hosting their annual Flag Day/Flag <br />Retirement Ceremony at Veteran's Park, 8702 – 181st Avenue NW in Ramsey on Tuesday, June <br />14th. The ceremony begins at 3:00 p.m. and a pot luck will be served following the ceremony. For <br />more information, you may visit the website at www.veteranslake.com. Attached to the Weekly <br />Update is a Flyer Announcing the Flag Retirement Ceremony. <br />City of Ramsey Receives Certificate of Appreciation From Heading Home Anoka. Heading <br />Home Anoka is a collaboration of housing providers, non -profits and County staff serving those <br />who are at risk of homelessness or who are currently homeless. In honor of Peace Officer's Day, <br />Heading Home Anoka awarded the City of Ramsey a Certificate of Appreciation on May 11, 2016 <br />for the dedication, commitment and service that our First Responders provide to those dealing with <br />housing issues and homelessness in Anoka County. Attached to the Weekly Update is a Letter <br />and Certificate of Appreciation from Anoka County. <br />Volunteerism—Football Boosters. For the last 32 years, the City of Ramsey's Public Works' <br />Parks staff has been partnering with City of Anoka Parks Department, and working with the Anoka <br />High School football teams to 'give back' to the park systems that serve their needs. This year, on <br />Saturday May 21, 25 teenaged football players (and a few parents) worked with Ramsey staff <br />mowing, trimming and raking the Trott Brook Cemetery in advance of Memorial Day, and painting <br />one and a half of Central Park's two hockey rinks. Since the program's inception three decades <br />ago, Ramsey's Parks Department has received over 3,903 hours in volunteer hours from the <br />endeavor. This rain -or -shine annual contribution of labor is similar to one person working full <br />time for two weeks - for free!. Attached to the Weekly Update are Photos of the 32nd Annual <br />Football Booster Day in Ramsey. <br />Kayak Lessons Offered at Sunfish Lake. The City of <br />Ramsey, in partnership with Wahoo! Adventures, welcomes <br />you to get outdoors, learn something new, and experience your <br />parks! Kick off summer with a paddle around Sunfish Lake in <br />the Learn to Kayak Class, which will be held on Saturday, June <br />4 at 8:30 am and 10:30 am. In this hour and a half class you <br />will learn how to paddle correctly, get in and out of a kayak <br />easily and safely, and how to pack for a day on the water.
