City Planner Anderson indicated a variance takes at least 30 days to complete and costs $600.
He described the amount of staff time that was required to pull together the information
necessary for a variance request.
Commissioner VanScoy questioned if staff would like some latitude regarding setbacks in order
to make a decision on setbacks without requiring a variance.
City Planner Anderson believed this could put staff into a tough position and recommended that
if anything, the setbacks be amended within City Code to provide clear direction for staff.
Commissioner VanScoy suggested the setbacks remain as is for existing neighborhoods and that
the setbacks for new neighborhoods be reconsidered. He was also supportive of administrative
consideration being offered to staff for two side lots.
Commissioner Brauer commented on the variance approval process. He did not support all
existing corner lots having new setbacks.
City Planner Anderson appreciated the Commission's input.
6.
