Ote Minions, To work together to re p slbly grit' our mantle hit . and to provide quality, cosi-effective. and eflk ent government services_
CC Regular Session
Meeting Date: 04/26/2016
By: Jo Thieling, Administrative Services
Information
Title:
Consider Request for Special Events Permit for Live Music at 17131 Baugh Street NW, Ramsey
Purpose/Background:
Purpose: To consider a request for a Special Events Permit for live music at 17131 Baugh Street NW
7.3.
Background: City staff received a request on Wednesday, April 20, 2016, from Nathan Wattenhofer, for a Special
Events Permit to host a neighborhood gathering.
Mr. Wattenhofer's request consists of the following: To have an event that is a baseball themed party and dance —
the application states it is a neighborhood gathering. The event would be held on Mr. Wattenhofer's property,
located at 17131 Baugh Street NW in Ramsey. The event is scheduled for Saturday, April 30, 2016, beginning at
7:00 p.m. and ending at midnight. Doors would open at 6:45 p.m. Activities would include a dance lesson at 8:00
p.m., followed by a 9:00 pm. dance to the band The Del Counts. There will be appetizers, desserts, bonfire and live
music. A $15 per person donation is suggested for anyone over the age of 12. Mr. Wattenhofer is estimating about
125 people would attend. There will be no alcohol allowed on the premises and there would be no overnight guests.
Members of City staff from different departments will be meeting early next week (Administrative
Services/Community Development/Public Works/Police and Fire) to discuss this permit application prior to the
Council meeting. Parking, noise level, traffic control, etc. will be discussed with the applicant so staff is able to
bring more complete information forward to Council.
It should be noted that Mr. Wattenhofer is requesting the band play until midnight. Council will have to review that
as well as that is a deviation from City Code. Council has granted a midnight time in the past with the stipulation
that if there are complaints, the music is turned down - or stopped.
A flyer advertising the event is attached to this report. It is expected that Mr. Wattenhofer will be present at the
meeting to answer questions Council may have.
Recommendation:
Staff will present a recommendation to the City Council at the meeting on Tuesday.
Action:
