CASE <br /> <br />PUBLIC HEARING ON AMENDMENT TO CITY CODE <br />SECTION 4.40.06 SUBDIVISION 10 <br /> REIJATIN(; TO WATER USE RESTRICTIONS <br /> By: ~';teve Jankowski, City Engineer <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br />Thc current section of' thc City code relating to water conservation is section 4.40.06 subd <br />10 which read:; as follows: <br /> <br />7he use oJ'law, hoses is permitted at all hours of the day, but in case offire in any area <br />served by the municipal water :,'):stem, aH lawn hoses must be shut off and all other <br />wmecessas~ use of water must he stopped. Whenever the City shall determine that a <br />shortage of water supply threatens the City, it may, by published notice and/or radio and <br />televisio~ ,otice, limit the lime3- a~d hours during which water may be used from the City <br />water syslem.~w lawn or garde~ ,l,qnkling, irrigation, car washing, swimming pools, air <br />conditioning o;' other uses. No~ ice cfa violation of the published notice shall be mailed <br />to the vio/a~or .,md vio[ation of/he mailed notice is hereby prohibited. Any water <br />customer who :&all cause or permit water to be used in violation of the provisions of said <br />.otice [wo day, r (~)er its mailings, mq~ have water service discontinued. <br /> <br />The Public Works Committee recommended changes be made to this section of the City <br />code which would provide for l~orc progressive penalties for water sprinkling violations <br />and also that thc conservation policies cm-rently in place be included into this section of <br />the code. Attached to this case is an ordinance modifying the wording of this section of <br />the City code. This ordinance v, as introduced on May 11, 2004.
