While this corridor has been identified <br />in a Seeping [)ocu~cnt, the o/I~cia] mapping process has yet to begin. In addition there has been <br />discussion ab()ui what will happen x-,.'ilh Itighway #169. There is a proposal being discussed that <br />once 1 lighway '//01 (I is completed, #!69 would join the new #610 and then come north to the new <br />northwest cor~'idor route. As they ~'eached completion of the study a new issue came up from <br />Shcrbt~mc (~otl~ty and Anoka Cotmt¥ indicating that perhaps #169 should join up in the <br />commercial area o~ l';lk Riv{~r. The r'cas-:on the issue is before the Council is that staff has learned <br />in rccotat weeks thatt dovclol)melat p~ essm'es along the proposed northwest river crossing corridor <br />arc significantly o~t the increase. [-le e,',,plained that development is more eminent in this area than <br />they had thought o~o year a~.;o. Dev.::lopment in the corridor will probably occur before the State <br />takes any action on thc river bridge ~zrossing. If that occurs the City needs to be ready to try and <br />preserve whore tho (iity believes tht: corridor should be, which is difficult because the EIS, once <br />completed, m~y i,lcntiFy a differ~mt location. Recently staff has had discussions with <br />rcprcscntati yes lior eno of' tine proper i,y ()wners and they have indicated that they would be willing <br />to preserve a 300 Ii)ct corridor for ihe crossing if the density they lose in that con'idor can be <br />made up olsowholx~' on the property.
