Councilmember <br />moved for its adoption: <br /> <br />:,ntroduced the following resolution and <br /> <br />RESOL~IOR ~87- <br /> <br /> WHEREA~, funds are available through the Federal Land and <br />Conservation Fund (LAWCON] for the acquisition and development of <br />outdoor recreation facilities; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, funds are available through state bonding monies <br />for the development o[ lo~:al athletic facilities; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, funds ava:~.lable through LAWCON and state bonding <br />monies must be matched bi the applicant to be eligible for such <br />funds; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, eligibl, e applicants for LAWCON funds include <br />cities; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, eligible projects for LAWCON funds include the <br />development of outdoor recreation facilities On locally owned <br />land and the maintenance of those facilities; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, eligible applicants for state bonding monies for <br />athletic facilities include cities; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Ramsey Center Partnership donated to the City of <br />Ramsey approximately 6~ acres of land adjacent to the oxbow of <br />the Rum Riw~r to be used for public purposes; and <br /> <br /> WHEllEAS, the Ramsef City Council has determined that the <br />majority of this donated la~d will be developed with recreational <br />facilities ~uch as multit:le purpose trails, canoe access, tennis <br />courts, pic~.~ic area, par~ing areas and athletic fields for public <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />RAMSEY, ANOKA COUNT~, ST~:~.TE OF MI1/I~ESOTA, as follows: <br /> <br /> 1. That the City of Ramsey apply for LAWCON and state <br />bonding monies for athi. etic facilities for the development of <br />River's Bend Park. <br /> <br /> 2.
