Councilmember moved for its adoption: :,ntroduced the following resolution and RESOL~IOR ~87- WHEREA~, funds are available through the Federal Land and Conservation Fund (LAWCON] for the acquisition and development of outdoor recreation facilities; and WHEREAS, funds are available through state bonding monies for the development o[ lo~:al athletic facilities; and WHEREAS, funds ava:~.lable through LAWCON and state bonding monies must be matched bi the applicant to be eligible for such funds; and WHEREAS, eligibl, e applicants for LAWCON funds include cities; and WHEREAS, eligible projects for LAWCON funds include the development of outdoor recreation facilities On locally owned land and the maintenance of those facilities; and WHEREAS, eligible applicants for state bonding monies for athletic facilities include cities; and WHEREAS, Ramsey Center Partnership donated to the City of Ramsey approximately 6~ acres of land adjacent to the oxbow of the Rum Riw~r to be used for public purposes; and WHEllEAS, the Ramsef City Council has determined that the majority of this donated la~d will be developed with recreational facilities ~uch as multit:le purpose trails, canoe access, tennis courts, pic~.~ic area, par~ing areas and athletic fields for public NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RAMSEY, ANOKA COUNT~, ST~:~.TE OF MI1/I~ESOTA, as follows: 1. That the City of Ramsey apply for LAWCON and state bonding monies for athi. etic facilities for the development of River's Bend Park. 2. That the Mayor ::.s authorized to sign the applicat_ion for LAWCON and state bondings; monies for athletic facilities for the development of River's B~md Park.
