MEMO
To: City Administrator, Ramsey City Council

From: Bretton L. Gates, Ramsey Resident
8;340 154th Lane

Date: 7/21/87

Subject: Horse Sense

Dear Sir: "

We have heard that a neighbor is requestin~ a varience to allow
horse to be kept on a one acme lot. We further understand that
the decision on this varience will set a presidence for all city
residential lots.

We do not wAnt this varience to be granted because:

- We feel that it is not fair to the animals, which need more
land to run end graze,

- It is not fair to neighbors who will most likely suffer damage
to their property (and the odor confined to such a small ares
would be unacceptable).

- Currently, two and one-half acres are required for the keeping
of horses, and we feel that five acres is barely sufficient.

We are sorry that we could not be present at the city council
meeting due to prior appointments, but we do hope that you will
consider our memo and let us know the outcome of the meeting (and
the councils decision).

Sincerely,

Bretton L. Gates
