PLANNING & ZONING COMMISSION <br /> <br /> City of Ramsey <br /> Anoka County <br />State of Minnesota <br /> <br />Public Hearing <br />P&Z-1- <br />lO/?/8o <br /> <br />Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, the City of Ramsey's Planning <br />& Zoning Commission held a Public Hearing at the Ramsey Municipal Center, <br />]-5153 Nowthen Blvd. N.W., Ramsey, Minnesota 55303, on October 7, 1980 to <br />consider zhe application of Edith Cornelius for a conditional use permit <br />for a Home Occupation Gift Shop. <br /> <br />Members Present: <br /> <br />Ken Peterson (Chairman) <br />Benjamin Deemer <br />Art Dunn <br />Harry Ellis <br />Gerald Zimmerman <br /> <br />Also Present: <br />Lloyd Schnelle, City Administrator <br /> <br />Members Absent: Kathy Schneider and Ron West <br /> <br />Chairman Ken Peterson called the meeting to order at 7:45 P.M. and explained <br />the purpose of the meeting was for anyone who was interested to comment on <br />on the conditional use request of Edith Cornelius to operate a gift shop <br />in her attached garage at 15231 Jaspar St. N.W. <br /> <br />Edith..Cornelius, 15231 Jaspar St. N.W. <br /> <br />Ms. Cornelius said she wanted to turn her 24' x 28' garage into a gift <br />shop. She felt it would save a lot of money for people who wouldn't have <br />to run down to Target or K-Mart. She said she would be selling gift items, <br />jewelry, toys, etc. The items would not be made in her home. <br /> <br />Chairman Peterson read a letter received from Michael and Sandra Schelkoph, <br />which stated that they hoped the council would reject Ms. Cornelius' request <br />because co~,~ercial establishments increase traffic and noise in the area, <br />bringi~.down property values and 'they felt allowing one person to operate <br />commercially in a resident2al area would spur more to do the same. <br /> <br />Ms. Cornelius noted the beauty shop that she attends in her neighborhood. <br /> <br />Chairman Peterson asked her how she would attract business. Also he <br />informed her that a sign ~as.~o-.b~ two (2) square feet. <br /> <br />Ms. Cornelius said she would attrac± business by word of mouth and ads. <br /> <br />Art Dunn asked her if she would be enlarging her garage or home for this <br />business. <br /> <br />Ms. Cornelius said she would not be enlarging her garage or home. <br /> <br />PUBLIC HEARING Page 1 10/7/80 <br /> <br /> <br />
