City of Ramsey <br /> <br />15153 NOWTHEN BOULEVARD N.W., RAMSEY, MINNESOTA 55303 · (612) 427-1410 <br /> <br />M E M 0 KAND U M <br /> <br />TO: <br /> <br />FROM: <br /> <br />RE: <br /> <br />· DATE: <br /> <br />City Council <br /> <br />Landf ill Commission <br /> <br />Ski ]{ill Proposal from Waste Management of Minnesota, Inc. - <br />Letter Dated March 2, 1987 <br /> <br />September 3, 1987 <br /> <br />The Landfill Commission is studying the issues separately unless the <br />City Council decides a ski hill (park) is feasible. <br /> <br />In our Commission discussions, the following questions arise about the <br />operation and the development of a ski hill: <br /> <br />-Can we afford to manage if effectively daily? <br />-Can there be tow ropes? <br />-Can there be snow making facilities? <br />-Can residents use it for a reduced fee? <br />-Can we advertise in the Metro Area to i~crease usage? <br />-Can school children use it for free? <br />-Can we have it operated by the private sector (WER~I)? <br />-Can there be a warming house? <br />-Can parking be on-site? <br />-Can the turf cover be maintained? <br />-Can the liability insurance be afforded? <br />-Can the City have a Staff person to work with all factions, <br /> which would be: <br /> City Council <br /> Waste Management of Minnesota, Inc. <br /> Private Operation (on a lease basis) <br /> Park and Recreation Commission <br /> City Engineer <br /> Minnesota Pollution Control Agency <br /> Metropolitan Council <br /> Anoka County Board of Commissioners <br /> Landfill Commission <br />-Can the City use taxpayer's dollars to keep the ski hill in <br /> operation if it doesn't sustain itself - even if a business plan <br /> says it should? <br /> <br /> <br />
