15 Minutes CASE ~14: <br /> <br />REVIEW 1988 BUDGET AND CONSIDER 1988 LEVY <br /> By: Noel Graczyk, Finance Officer <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br />The Budget Committee held a meeting on September 14, 1 987 to review a <br />discussion draft o~ the 1988 budget. <br /> <br />Enclosed with your agenda materials is a copy of the discussion draft of the <br />I988 budget for your review. The Budget Committee has scheduled another <br />meeting on September 21, 1987 to meet with Department Heads to review their <br />requests in the budget. The Budget Committee has also scheduled a follow-up <br />meeting on September 23, 1987 if needed. <br /> <br />A public hearing on the 1988 budget is scheduled as a part of this Council <br />meeting. Discussion and input from the public should be considered by the <br />Council and be given consideration during this case. <br /> <br />It is recommended that the City Council convene a special City Council meeting <br />on September 29, 1987 to review the 1988 budget in detail. At that meeting the <br />Council should plan on making final recommendations to the Staff on what should <br />be included in the budget for 1988. The Council should also plan on taking <br />action that night to adopt the assessed 1987 payable 1988 levy. <br /> <br />Enclosed with this case is a draft resolution for the 1987/1988 levy. The levy <br />'is recommended at $1,124,131 which is at the overall levy limit for the City. <br /> <br />Recommendation: <br /> <br />Council action will be to discuss the 1988 budget and call for a special City <br />Council meeting on September 29, 1987 to address the 1988 budget and to adopt <br />the asssesed 1987 payable 1988 levy. <br /> <br />Review Checklist: <br /> <br />Administrator ,X <br />Attorney <br />Engineer <br />Community Development Director <br /> <br />Chief of Police <br />Finance Officer <br />Public Works Superintendent <br />Other <br /> <br />X <br /> <br /> <br />
