MEMO

TO:

FROM:

DATE:

RE:

Ramsey city Council

Peter R. Raatikka, city Engineer

September 22, 1987

Street Condition - 153rd Ave. N.W. Between T.H. 47 and
Roanoke Street

As requested at your last regular council meeting, I have reviewed the
condition of 153rd Avenue N.W. between T.H. 47 and Roanoke Street.

The cracking has become severe and, in the area within 200 feet of T.H.
47, chuck holes have developed.

In general, the majority of transverse cracks were open more than 1/2
inch. Based on a Surface Condition Rating System developed by the
University of Minnesota, any crack openings greater than 1/2 inch
should be repaired.

In discussing the street with Merle Mevissen, he indicated he would be
repairing the areas with chuck holes in the near future. However, he
indicated he did not have the manpower to repair all of the cracks.
