5 Minutes CASE ~12: APPROVA~ OF INDEPENDENT AUDITOR FOR THE AUDIT OF FISCA~L YEAR ENDED DECEMBER 31, 1987 By: Noel Graczyk, Finance Officer Background: For the audit of the 1986 fiscal year, the City issued a request for proposal for auditting services. The City selected Pannell Kerr Forster (PKF) as the independent auditor for the City for a three year period with the understanding that the City may cancel the use of PKF's services if such ser¥ices are found to be unsatisfactory. Audit services for the year ended December 31, 1987 represent the second year of the three ).ear period agreed to with PKF. The cost for these services provided by PKF will be $10,300. Enclosed is a copy of the letter of understanding outlining the services and cost for the 1987 audit to be performed by Pannell Kerr Forster. Observations: The letter of understanding is consistent with the level of services performed for the 1986 audit. THe not to exceed figure of $10,300 is also consistent with the proposal submitted by Pannel Kerr Forster in December 1985. Mr Kenneth W. Malloy, Partner with Pannel Kerr Forster, will be at the meeting to address any questions the Council may have concerning the letter of understanding. Recommendation: It is recommended that the City retain the services of Pannell Kerr Forster for the 1987 audit wich will be the second of three years agreed to with Pannell Kerr Forster in December 1985.
