I wish to comment on the proposed amendment to Section 170.017 of the City Code establishing performance standards for grading, mining and excavating operations. (1) Under 170.017 M(5) Dage 4, Administration: I i (2) The costs should be paid by the permit holder, however they should also be notified of the esti- mated costs and the reasons for these administrative costs. There may be things that the permit holder may be able to change in his operations or infor- mation he has available that can assist and there- fore hold down the costs of administration. ~gge 5 - MaD (4) (3) Should also read county roads, since many of them have been designed for heavier commercial traffic. Under 170.017 M(6) page 6, property safeguarded to prevent the general public from depositing garbage or other refuse in the site, signage saying no dumping allowed should be adequate enough, anything more than that 'is impossible to safeguard against. (4) Under 170.017 M(8)f Da~e 9, Saturday should be permitted unless it becomes a hazard in safeguarding the life, limb, property and welfare of the citizens of the community. We very seldom work Saturdays unless a contractor has a very tight completion problem, which is usually recom- mended by state, county and city officials in order to minimize the inconvenience to the public sector. (5) Under 170.017 M(8)h Daae 10, If the dust is contained on the premises of the per- mittee and all other dust control is met, then the 30 m.p.h, gusts is not reasonable.
