PROPOSED RORSE CHAPTER <br /> <br />ACREAGE REQUIREMENTS <br /> <br />Not more than one horse may be kept on a lot of at least 2 <br />acres provided it is enclosed in a pen or corral containing <br />at least 800 square feet, including a stable under a roof of at <br />least 100 square feet. <br /> <br />Not more than two horses may be kept on a lot of at least 2 .5 <br />acres provided they are enclosed in a pen or corral containing at <br />least 800 square feet per such animal including a stable under a <br />roof of at least 100 square feet per such animal . <br /> <br />Three or more horses may be kept on a lot of at least five acres <br />and they must be enclosed in a pen or corral containing at least <br />3,200 square feet and there must be a stable under a roof of at <br />least 100 square feet per such animal, <br /> <br />Fences for pens, corrals or similar enclosures must be of <br />sufficient height and strength to retain such animals. Extra <br />care must be taken to insure that stallions are properly <br />enclosed. <br /> <br />RODENT AND INSECT CONTROL <br /> <br />Manure shall be handled or treated in such a manner so as not to <br />create a public nuisance. <br /> <br />Corrals, pens, stables or similar enclosures shall be maintained <br />in a manner to reduce fly breeding. <br /> <br />No manure shall be burned openly. <br /> <br />Manure and other waste materials must be removed from the pen, <br />corral, stable or similar enclosure every 7 days, except where <br />the horses, ponies or colts are confined to an area of at least 4 <br />acres. If, however, in an area of four acres or more the Horse <br />Council finds that the manure and other waste materials create a <br />nuisance by attracting flies, other insects and rodents or by <br />creating offensive odors, the City Council upon recommendation by <br />the Horse Council may order that the manure and other waste <br />materials be removed within four days of notice to the owner of <br />the land ordering him to do so. <br /> <br />CARE AND MAINTENANCE OF HORSES <br /> <br />No horse, colt or pony shall be treated cruelly or inhumanely by <br />any person or in violation of Minnesota Statutes 346.20 - 346.26 <br />preventing cruelty to animals. <br /> <br />CONTROL, TRESPASS AI~D PUBLIC ROADWAYS <br /> <br />No person, firm or corporation shall permit any horse, pony or <br /> <br /> <br />
