Letters <br />of <br />Comment <br /> <br />Mr. Hartley read letters from Mr. Patrick Kennedy, 7231 151st Avenue <br />NW, (Opposed) and Mr. Charles B. Soderholm, Sr., President of Sodernom <br />& Associates, Inc. (For). The letters are attached and made part of <br />the minutes. <br /> <br />At this point, public comments were solicited from the audience. <br /> <br />Barbara Graen read a letter expressing her concerns. The letter is <br />attached and made part of the minutes. <br /> <br />Ted Erkenbrack of Northern Oxygen - regarding insurance - stated that <br />I~orthern Oxygen is considered a hazardous products distributor and <br />insurance has gone up considerably in the last few years. He stated <br />that Northern Oxygen does not propose that safety features for the <br />airport are not needed but future expansion for the company is in <br />question as it relates to the following sections of the Existing Use <br />Provision: <br />Item B, Paragraph 2, ...No permit shall be granted that will allow the <br />establishment or creation of an airport hazard or permit a non- <br />conforming use... <br />Section 5, Subdivision 2, Paragraph E, ...specifically that land use <br />may, in case of an aircraft accident, cause an explosion, fire, or be <br />the least harmfaul or toxic, be an exception to expansion ... <br />What happens when Northern Oxygen wants to expand in years to come? <br /> <br />Mary Jo Sentyrz - Insurance is a major concern. Does insurance exist <br />for this airport. Can the City get insurance? Also, Ms. Sentyrz asked <br />that a copy of a letter, stating her position, be made part of the <br />minutes. The letter is attached. <br /> <br />Greg Hellings responding for Mr. Babcock. The Schwartzman's property <br />is on the south side of Highway 10 and would be affected by the airport <br />zoning. They ha~,e property in zones A and B and are opposed because of <br />restrictions on their property. If Ordinance is adopted, in the <br />future, could the original zoning be restored so they could proceed <br />with development of property as it is zoned today. <br /> <br />Attorney representing Tom Thumb Food F~arkets, Inc. read letter from <br />~aliace R. Pettit, Presiden~ of Tom Thumb Food lqarkets, inc. which is <br />attzched and made part of the minutes. <br /> <br />Kei~h Sauer - did not realize the idea of a City owned airport would go <br />so far. Did not believe he has been well informed by information in <br />the various communications in Ramsey. He does not know what the <br />airport will cost the tax payers in Ramsey. All pertinent information <br />needs to be made available in a newsletter. Why don't you bring topics <br />like this up for voting and then it would take much less time; this has <br />been going on for two years. Use Airport in Blaine which is ciuse. <br />The reason development is not coming ~o Ramsey is not because there is <br />no airport. <br /> <br />Sharon Mager, 7260 !52nd, stated that at the last Council meeting, upon <br />inquiry, she was told that a zoning ordinance would not be acted on <br /> <br />City Council/August 25, !987 <br /> Page 6 of i6 <br /> <br /> <br />
