Architecture <br /> <br />Overview <br />There are numerous opportunities to <br />include buildings and other structures as <br />significant design features within the <br />proposed parks, trails and open space <br />system for the Town Center. These <br />could range from simple picnic shelters <br />and landscaped arbors to more complex <br />park buildings that might contain <br />meeting rooms, rest rooms, storage <br />areas and other facil'ities. Design of <br />these important buildings should <br />respond to the specific setting and <br />landscape features in each park, and <br />complement the overall character and <br />quality of buildings located within <br />surrounding blocks. Architecture <br />guidelines include the following: <br /> <br />TC5 Building Design, Character and <br />Expression <br />· Create structures that reflect, and <br /> perhaps blend qualities of both the <br /> natural landscape and the unique <br /> urban form of various sub-districts <br /> and specific blocks within the Town <br /> Center <br /> <br />Provide structures that add character, <br />comfort and support proposed uses <br />within each park <br />Provide structures that are unique, <br />highly detailed and durable <br />Provide structures that heighten the <br />overall design character and quality of <br />the Town Center, where park <br />buildings, as a separate category, <br />distinguish themselves as great <br />architecture <br /> <br />TC5 Scale, Proportion and Building <br />Height <br />· Emphasize intimate scale to support <br /> street level activities and promote <br /> pedestrian comfort <br />· Emphasize scale and proportion that <br /> will complement, not compete, with <br /> surrounding character of park space <br /> <br />TC5 Materials <br />· Provide a diverse mix of materials, <br /> applied in a Variety of proportions and <br /> design details <br />· Encourage the use of durable, high <br /> quality materials, including .brick and <br /> stone, together with woodsand metals <br /> to promote the idea of permanence <br /> <br /> <br />
