Count Response
1 Adequate free parking is critical to fostering visits by the community atIarge.
1 Depending on what we put in,a ramp may make sense. But right now we have a ramp that is never full,so this
needs to be looked at very seriously.
1 It will depend on the situation at the time of development.
1 Limited TIF,County,or Met Council Grant money.
1 Need to explore funding options as these facilities are costly and serve a common good.
1 Not so sure if the entire parking costs hould be on the public rolls, but a shared cost is appropriate. These ramps
are going to be used extensively by the public, esp.during public events.
1 The City should view along term parking structure by identifying a parce I which can be developed forth is
purpose longterm. The ramps hould be relatively smalI insize to meet the need to reduce parking demand
within the COR.By rightsizing the size of the ramp, the city can effectively reduce the risk and provide a
financially conservative approach to the necessary parking ease in the area.
1 The city HAS been planning for the density that requires a variety if parking strategies.Stated in The COR Design
Framework.Pages 23-24specifythe funding for parking infrastructure.Public funding maybe required for
initial implementation buts hould be recovered based on that plan.
1 There is a public benefit in utilizing space by building up for parking(rather than out)to allow more lands pace
for housing, retail and business from a tax base perspective at build out.In addition,I believe the aesthetics and
function of fewer acres of parking lots in the COR should be a priority. So Iwo uld favor helping to facilitate
grants and HRA dollars and if necessary using TIF do Ilars to fund gaps for as hared structured facility.
1 We already have the ramp.Go verity al fo r retail(see above). For residential, there are units that put parking on
the first floor.
1 We don't want too much land being des ignatedforsurf ace parking.Developers need to bee ncou raged to
include ramps in their planning. The city should be a party to funding to make these ramps a reality.
26
