Functions of the Zoning Ac~ninistrator, Planning Conmission, Board of <br />Appeals and City Council/County Board in Zoning Administration <br /> <br /> Cne of the questions that frequently is raised by new members of <br />planning comissions is the respective rules and functions of the <br />planning comission, vis a vis, the city council/county board. The <br />purpose of the afternoon panel of the Annual Planning Institute is to <br />discuss these relationships. The following is a suggested outline of <br />some of these functions which should be covered bv the panel members. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />II <br /> <br />FUNCTIONS OF A ZONING ADMINISTRATOR <br /> <br />A. Process Applications for Zoning Changes - zoning amendments, <br />conditional/special use permits. <br /> <br />1. Collect background data and analyze proposals. <br />2. Prepare reports for Planning Commission. <br />3. Make presentations to Planning. Commission. <br /> <br />B. Process Applications for Variances <br /> <br />1. Collect background data and analyze proposals. <br />2. Prepare reports for Board of Appeals. <br />3. Make presentations to Board of Appeals. <br /> <br />C. Update Zoning Map <br /> <br /> 1. Update Zoning map periodically to reflect zoning amendments <br /> (rezonings). <br /> <br />D. Process Subdivision Applications <br /> <br />1. Collect background data and analyze proposals. <br />2. Prepare reports for Planning Conmission. <br />3. Make presentations to Planning Conmission. <br /> <br />E. Prepare Findings by Planning Coranission and Board of Appeals <br /> to be submitted to City Council/County Board. <br /> <br />1. Prepare findings to support recommendations. <br />2. Make presentations to City Council/County Board. <br /> <br />F. Issue Building Permits <br /> <br /> G. Provide Technical Assistance to Planning Conmision to Update <br /> Comprehensive Plan, Zoning Ordinance and Subdivision Regulations. <br /> <br /> H.
