Lookif]g for potential trade leads?

The Minnesota Department of qYade and Econnmic
Developm(m~ can turn on Minnesota companies to
thous,nds of potential international business
transactions with a flick of a switch.

The Minnesota Trade Office, a dMsion of the department,
operates two of its own systems, %adeNet and
AgriSource, and has access to several other data bases in
the trade and economic development library.

The Trade Office operates a system called qYadeNet for
distributing trade leads to Minnesota companies. When
the Trade Office learns of an overseas importer's desire to
buy a product, the syste~n sea,'ches throuTh the firms in
its data base files and mails an announcement to the
Minnesota firms that manufacture that product.

Some 5,000 Minnesota companies are listed in TradeNet,
which sends out an average of 1,200 to 1,600 trade leads
each month, lb have your company listed in TradeNet,
call Jerry Oberle at the Trade Office, 612/297-1318.

AgriSource is a system similar to TradeNet, but ior
agricultural products only. When Trade Office staff
receive an inquiry about an ag.-icultural produc:,
AgriSource generates a list of Minnesota firms producing
that product. The list is sent to the overseas buyer by
mail, telephone telex or facsimile.

AgriSource provides information on more than 600 food
and agricultural product suppliers. Interested food
ma~mfacturers receive computer-matched responses to
specific inquiries that ensure the most current
information.
