G. Engineer may increase or decrease area of erodible earth material to be exposed at one time as determined by <br /> analysis of Project conditions. <br /> H. Erosion control features installed by Contractor shall be acceptably maintained by Contractor during con- <br /> struction period. <br /> L Whenever construction equipment must cross watercourses at frequent intervals, and such crossings will <br /> adversely affect the sediment levels,temporary structures should be provided. <br /> J. Pollutants such as fuels, lubricants, bitumen, raw sewage, wash water from concrete mixing operations, and <br /> other harmful materials shall not be discharged into or near rivers, streams,wetlands and impoundments or into <br /> natural or manmade channels leading thereto. <br /> 1.04 SCHEDULE: <br /> A. Prior to start of construction, Contractor shall submit schedules for accomplishment of temporary and <br /> permanent erosion control work. <br /> B. Contractor shall also submit a proposed method of erosion and dust control on haul roads and borrow pits and a <br /> plan for disposal of waste materials. <br /> C. Work shall not be started until erosion control schedules and methods of operations for applicable construction <br /> have been accepted by Engineer. <br /> PART2-PRODUCTS <br /> 2.01 MATERIALS: <br /> A. Erosion control items are shown on Plans. <br /> B. Erosion control materials shall meet requirements of MN/DOT Standard Specifications. <br /> C. All other materials shall meet commercial grade standards and shall be approved by Engineer before being <br /> incorporated into Project. <br /> D. If Contractor operations disturb more than one acre, Contractor shall obtain and pay fees to obtain NPDES <br /> Construction Permit from Minnesota Pollution Control Agency. <br /> PART 3-EXECUTION <br /> 3.01 SPECIFIC CONCERNS <br /> A. WATER QUALITY <br /> 1. Erosion control measures shall be maintained to prevent-sediment pollution of adjacent water courses. <br /> 2. Build, maintain, and operate dams, channels, flumes, sumps and other temporary diversion and protective <br /> works to divert stream flow and other surface water through or around construction site and away from <br /> Work while construction is in progress. <br /> 3. Unless otherwise specified, a diversion must discharge into same natural drainageway in which its head <br /> waters are located. <br /> 4. Additional detailed provisions for specific types of construction, such as well construction, may be <br /> included elsewhere in these specifications. <br /> Division 31—Earthwork <br /> DV31-7 <br />
