R~QUEST FOR VARIANCE ~ MISSISSIPPI RIVER <br /> CASE ~F MR. <br /> By: Anne Norris, C~ty Develolm~nt Directo~ <br /> <br />t~,ckcjrot~'ld: <br /> <br />Mr. John Myrdal is requesting a variance fr~m the Mississippi River setback <br />for Lots 18 and 19, Bowers Mississippi A~res. This property is located in <br />the R-1R Rural Residential district and also within the Critical River <br />Overlay district. According to Section 170.0112G of the City Code, the <br />setback from the river for any structures is a minimum of 200 feet. Mr. <br />Myrdal is proposing to construct a house on the parcels which would be <br />located approximately 130 feet frum the Mississippi River and would <br />encroach on the required river setback by approximately 70 feet. Mr. <br />Myrdal is requesting this variance to the topography of the lots. <br /> <br />Mr. Myrdal has reviewed this request with Mr. John Stine, DNR, and with <br />Elvin Erickson, City Building Official. Neither Mr. Stine nor Mr. Erickson <br />have any objections to the requested variance. Mr. Myrdal's proposed <br />structure will be set back from the river similarly to adjacent structures. <br /> <br />For your information, enclosed are the following items: <br /> <br />a) Application <br />b) Site location map <br />c) Public hearing notice <br />d) Properties notified <br />e) Plat showing Lots 18 and 19 <br />f) Proposed findings of fact <br />g) Draft variance <br /> <br />Mr. Myrdal will be present at the meeting to explain his request.
