Council Update
Building Inspections Receives Favorable ISO Report. The City's Building Inspection Division
recently received a favorable report from ISO, an organization focused on property/casualty
insurance risk. ISO has a program known as the Building Code Effectiveness Grading Schedule
(BCEGS) that analyzes how local communities enforce their building codes. Communities are
ranked on a scale of one (1) to ten (10). The lower the ranking, the lower the risk of
property/casualty insurance risk. The City has scored a four (4) for both commercial and
residential. This is the most common score for communities of our size. This is an improvement
from the City's 2011 score, which was five (5) for commercial and six (6) for residential. The
hope is that structures built under the new, more favorable score, will see reductions in insurance
rates and premiums. A copy of the report can be found online at www.cityoframsey.com/permits.
Targeted Clean -Up Event. The City is currently coordinating a `Targeted Clean -Up Event' for
the Oak Terrace Estates neighborhood that will be held on Wednesday, September 7, from 5pm to
7pm. This is a mobile electronics recycling event in which residents of this neighborhood will
have the opportunity to recycle electronics and small appliances (e.g. space heaters, microwaves,
etc.) on site, rather than having to bring them to another location. The City is testing this format
out as a pilot project and if it is found to be successful, may connect with the various apartment
complexes in the community to guage their interest in `hosting' a similar type of event. The City
is working with Tech Dump, which has focused on mobile electronics recycling events in recent
years, and has provided promotional materials in both English and Spanish for distribution to the
neighborhood.
Save the Date:
• Taste of Happy Days Event - Presented by the Ramsey Rotary, Thursday, September 8,
6:00 — 9:00 pm, Fountains of Ramsey 7533 Sunwood Drive NW, Ramsey.
