CASE: AWARD BIDS FOR ELMCREST PARK IMPROVEMENTS By: Leonard Linton, Civil Engineer Background: The city council authorized the solicitation of bids for Elmcrest Park Improvements (Improvement Project 04-20) on May 11, 2004. Bids were opened on June 18, 2004. The preliminary results of the bidding are summarized below: Bidder Bauerly Companies Dave Perkins Contracting, Inc. Universal Enterprises of Mid-MN, Inc. Verified bid results will be available from staff before the council meeting. The City Council directed that the project be bid as a base bid plus alternates. This was as a potential cost saving measure to allow construction of parking lots and some trails in the event that the bids for total construction were exceeded available funding. The total plus alternate does exceed the amount identified in the 2004 CIP program, however construction of the full project will not exhaust all of the available park monies in the 50% Park fund that can be used city wide. Funding Sources: Elmcrest Park Improvements were included in the CI? for 2004 construction. The CF also included a project to extend Quicksilver Street from the existing cul-de-sac to the park.
