enter into an agreement to install the system when municipal sewer and <br />water is available. <br /> <br />Mr. LeTourneau stated that he cannot hold up construction while the city <br />determines if the requirement can be waived; Mr. Goodrich stated that <br />Council can take no action until it ia known whether or not they have the <br />authority to waive the requirement. Mr. Le~ourneau inquired if there is <br />any alternative to meet code and not spend $50,000 on a sprinkler <br />system. <br /> <br />Council directed staff to research if there are provisions for waiving the <br />sprinkler system requirement and if not, if there is a time frame allowed <br />for compliance with the requirement. <br /> <br />Hr. Erickson stated he has done a lot of research and the alternative he <br />suggested (installing a system with a fire department outlet and connected <br />to the on-site well and later installation o£ pressure tank) is still <br />putting his certification on the line. Mr. Erickson stated that he is <br />willing to get the State involvement in this case but then he can't <br />guarantee his alternative system will still be an option. <br /> <br />~r. Goodrich stated that staff will do the research and ii there is a <br />waiver provision or alternate approach, a special meeting of City Council <br />will be called; ii there are no provisions to relieve the requirement, <br />Council will take no further action until December 8. In the interim, Mr. <br />LeTourneau should proceed with his project assuming a sprinkler system will <br />be required. <br /> <br />Mr. LeTourneau requested that staff also research whether or not the <br />building can be open for public use until the system is installed; noted he <br />intends to utilize the remodelled portion of the building in the next week. <br /> <br />Mr. Goodrich advised Mr. LeTourneau to check with city staff before <br />utilizing the remodelled portion of the builging. <br /> <br />Councilmember DeLuca requested that Mr. LeTourneau check with his insurance <br />company to determine the amount of premium savings because of a sprinkler <br />system being installed. <br /> <br />Establishment Of November As Evilensy Mon:h: <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Cox and seconded by Councilmember Pearson to <br />declare November aa Epilepsy Month. <br /> <br />Motion carried.
