Count Response
1
Incorporate vision elementto include the value of fostering local small retail and service business. Exp. Coffee,
Brew Pubs, Bakery, MeatShop, Petshop, Garden store etc. (understanding that marketdrives the offering, but
whatcan be done to support the local entrepreneur?)
1
The CORshall be a mixed use, high densityoverlayzone in which offices, businesses, shopping, and services
are concentrated in area which attracts residents and visitors. Itshould be defined as the 'downtown of
Ramsey'. Existing development patterns should continue with focus on multi -level business offices or small
services/retail mixed use over straight apartment buildings and other lowdensity uses that are incompatible
with this vision. If Ramsey wants to compete in the area, to be anything other than a bedroom co m m u nity that
people merely pass byonthe highway this is a necessary approach to define it as a destination. With this
complete streets through the area are key. Sidewalks, and high quality furniture, fixtures and accents are
necessary to maintain a positive impacton residents and visitors.
1 The mixed -use is a good vision, butwe need avision that makes the CORsomething unique. We need to give
people a reason to go there rather than Riverdale, Elk River or some other area.
1 The vision is fine. We sould define the mix of"High Density Housing" we desire, or will allow.
1
Vision statement, courtesyof the Mayor:Acommunitythatpreserves its roots butem braces the future! This
will require several keyingredients: A) Use the high speed Internet. Itis the one economic assetthat
differentiates us from other nearby cities. B) Go Vertical —Use the last remaining commercial land diagonally
across from city hall for a vertical mall thatwould be connected to the ramp bya bridge. The places I have in mind
are ike DeWittSeitz and Fitgers in Duluth. C) Give upon chasing name corporate franchises. We have been
doing this for a decade and have only a half-hearted and still -unfulfilled McDonald's bid. Our best and most
sucessful tenants have been "hungry" local/regional businesses that are looking for newopportunities.
Coborns and Acapulco chose to go with us rather than somewhere else. There have to be more similar
business. This will require a lotof leg work —scouting local businesses to see which ones have a need for
expansion or a move or
1 We have a great plan. One missing piece is youth, teen and young adult activities.
3
