4.03: 2017 EDA Budget
Economic Dev. Mgr/Assistant City Administrator Brama presented the staff report. He provided
additional information on how a staffing position will be funded and shifted from the EDA
budget.
Member Skaff asked for additional information on the training item.
Economic Dev. Mgr/Assistant City Administrator Brama noted that three of the four courses
have been completed and therefore there is a significant decrease in funding for that item.
Motion by Member Skaff, seconded by Member Burandt, to recommend to City Council that the
2017 EDA Budget be approved as presented.
Further discussion: Economic Dev. Mgr/Assistant City Administrator Brama stated that he
would like guidance with the 20 hour per week staffing position.
City Administrator Ulrich commented that he highly supports the creation of the position.
Chairperson Steffen confirmed the consensus of the EDA to support the 20 hour per week
administrative staffing position.
Motion carried. He stated
that staff would love to have input from the EDA on which businesses should be moved from the
big list to the small list. He noted that there is no time constraint and the decision could be
delayed if desired.
Member LeTourneau stated that Dedicated Networks recently had a large expansion and is a big
employer.
Chairperson Steffen asked if there are criteria to consider.
Economic Dev. Mgr/Assistant City Administrator Brama explained the process that staff uses,
noting that there is not a strict policy on which names can be placed on the large list and
explained that the recommendation of the EDA usually moves a business to the small list. He
noted that once on the small list, staff has a list of criteria that they review.
Member Burandt suggested moving Dynamic Group to the small list.
Member Skaff asked if PACT Charter School would actually be considered as a business.
Economic Development Authority/August 4, 2016
Page 4 of 6
