The tennis courts
have been refurbished several times over the years, and the cedar wood-beam monument has also been repainted
and'patched-up'with concrete a few years ago.
Notification:
No notifications are required, but some of the twice weekly tennis court users have been apprised that this case is
on the agenda for consideration.
Observations/Alternatives:
Park and Recreation intern,Nathan Greenwald has collected information on costs and options on the tennis courts,
and will present this to the Commission at the meeting.
Staff will also apprise the Commission on options for the park monument as well.
Funding Source:
As for the tennis court resurfacing, the recommended funding source is the Capital Maintenance Fund, formally
known as `Park Maintenance Fund 9810' which has a present balance of approximately$366,000.
Recommendation:
Staff recommends proceeding with the reconditioning of the tennis courts as soon as practicable. As of this writing,
more investigation needs to occur on the area longevity of the ArmorTM crack repair systems—and if it is available
to more than the one contractor that specified it as an option. Based upon this fording, the cost to recondition the
tennis courts will be $19,000 to $38,000.
As for the monument replacement, staff recommends proceeding with organizing options and costs. At the same
time, staff is investigating city-wide wayfinding signage and developing iconic signage methods relative to
Ramsey's brand. The monument replacement should be considered within this process, anticipated to occur over the
next months.
Action:
Motion to recommend to City Council, reconditioning of the tennis courts at Rivers'Bend Park at a not-to-exceed
cost of$
