into yearly contracts with a sucoesaful bidder to provide services at an <br />hourly rate with materials to be p~id for by the City. <br /> <br />Councilmember DeLuca inquired as to the status of repairing the community <br />sign and lighting for the U.S. Flag. <br /> <br />Mr. Bartley reported that those tasks have ~een contracted out and will be <br />accomplished when the materials are available. <br /> <br />Gouncilmsmber COx suggested that many of the repairs could be accomplished <br />by maintenance type persons listed with t~mporary empl~nt agencies. <br /> <br />Councilmsmber Sorteberg stated that he thinks it is possible to find a <br />general maintenance person with electrical and plt~bing skills that would <br />be willing to do the work on a Part-time hourly basis. <br /> <br />Councilmember DeLuca suggested that inquiries be made at the A%"~I for a <br />skilled maintenance person. <br /> <br />Council consensus was that Mr. tIartley should ~0mpile a list specifying all <br />necessary repairs at City Fall and place this case ~ the March 31 Council <br />agenda for further discussion. <br /> <br />~4iscellaneous Item: Flusher/Water Truck Co~version: <br /> <br />Mr. Mevtssen stated that some of his agenda cases have been tabled since <br /> <br />the first of theyear due to discussions of privatization; that <br />privatization should not impact the issue of the flusher/water truck <br />conversion; that bids were received scme time ago and he is not sure they <br />are still valid; requested council action on the flusher/water truck <br />conversion. <br /> <br />Council directed Mr. Mevissen to research whether or not the bids for <br />flusher/water truck conversion are still valid and report back to Council <br />on March 31. <br /> <br />Case ~17.- Storm Sewer Improvement Policy_: <br /> <br />Mr. ~artley stated that the City has established storm sewer taxing <br />districts in order to deal with storm sewer problems. 1~ there has to be <br />a policy established regarding the use cf storm sewer taxing district tool <br />in developed versus undeveloped areas. In already developed areas, the <br />improvements will most likely be made and the district will be taxed. In <br />undeveloped areas, should the district be providing storm sewer for the <br />developer or just the trunk and assess for laterals. Mr. ~{artley suggested <br />that oouncil consider a policy requiring the developer to pay for his <br />portion of the laterals. Mr. Hartley asked council to keep in mind that <br />previously developed areas will be paying right away at a higher rate than <br />tad land and council may want to take into consideration having the city <br />pay for laterals. <br /> <br />Councilmember Cox stated that the presently proposed storm <br /> City Council/March 24, 1987 <br /> <br />Page 17 of 22 <br /> <br />sewer <br /> <br /> <br />
