ow~ the land, hov~evero and this may be a problem. & trail could be
designated but not used until the property owner a~reed to the e~ement.

CASE t Di~ussion re~qrdipg trails.

Com.mic~ioner Shumway requested discussion re~arding horse trails be put
on the next agenda, possibly working along with those requesting snowmobile
trails.

Commissioner Shumway indicated he is interested in getting a multiple
trail system going. Bob Peterson of the Ramsay Sno-Rams said they can get
85~', funding from the State for a winter trail system but did not know ff it
would apply for a multiple use trail system. Right to use permits for these
trails are effective from November 15 to April I on private property.
Commissioner Shumway said he works with the DNR and the state trails are
multiple use trails. Chairman Lighter request~l a map of the current trail
systems. Comn~_i~sioner Shurnway would like the multiple use tr_ai!_~ to
connect -~ith the trails at Bunker Park and to the weigh station, passing
through Northfork. Paterson said the application for funai~g has to be
subm.itted by May 1, and they would have volunteer labor. The snow~nobile
club needs a government a~ency to apply through, either city or county. The
trails committee -~ill schedule a meeting to discuss the matter. Paterson said
he could have a state representative attend a committee meeting.

CASE #5: Di~ussion re~.arding estimates for expansion of wa~,,i_n_§, house and
hockey rink facilities.

Merland Otto provided the estimates requested. Merle Mevissen indicated
that possibly the Hockey Association could provide the labor. Chairman
Lighter would like to get the recommendations of the hockey ussociation, and
Commissioner Hetland ~ attend their next meeting.

Carol Sather, warm__i_~_~ house manager, said they have to alleviate the
problem now. The warming house and skating area are not large enough,
and she has to sel~rate age groups for safety. There are 3 rinks at Ra _m._~ey
School and there is not room for more. Sather presented the following letter
to the Park Com_m.ission:

February 19, 1957

To whom it may concern:

City Council ...... Park and Recreation Comm_.

On many (weather pe,'l.itting) nights between 175-200
children and adults use the only. Ughted skating area available
in Ramsay. This number creates an overcrowded recreation area
(inside the warna__i~g house and on the rink_~). In turn it leads to
serious accidents and supervision that is too thin to handle all
problems.

If thi~ community truly wants a ~qualitv. and safe winter
recreation program that serves families, the pubUc hockey interest,
and the organized hockey association, I feel the following racom-
