Councilmember Cox introduced the following resolution and moved <br />for its adoption: <br /> <br />RESOLUTION ~87-80 <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, funds are available through the Federal Land and <br />Conservation Fund (LAWCON) for the acquisition and development of <br />outdoor recreation facilities; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, funds are available through state bonding monies <br />for the development of local athletic facilities; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, funds available through LAWCON and state bonding <br />monies must be matched by the applicant to be eligible for such <br />funds; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, eligible applicants for LAWCON funds include <br />cities; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, eligible projects for LAWCON funds include the <br />development of outdoor recreation facilities on locally owned <br />land and the maintenance of those facilities; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, eligible applicants for state bonding monies for <br />athletic facilities include cities; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Ramsey Center Partnership donated to the City of <br />Ramsey approximately 60 acres of land adjacent to the oxbow of <br />the Rum River to be used for public purposes; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Ramsey City Council has determined that the <br />majority of this donated land will be developed with recreational <br />facilities such as multiple purpose trails, canoe access, tennis <br />courts, picnic area, parking areas and athletic fields for public <br />use. <br /> <br />NOW THEREFOR.E, BE IT RESOLVED BT THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />RAMSEY, ANOKA COUNTY, STATE OF MINNESOTA, as follows: <br /> <br /> 1. That the City of Ramsey apply for LAWCON and state <br />bonding monies for athletic facilities for the development of <br />River's Bend Park. <br /> <br /> 2. That the Fmyor is authorized to sign the application for <br />LAWCON and state bonding monies for athletic facilities for the <br />development of River's Bend Park. <br /> <br />The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly <br />seconded by Councilmember Sorteberg and upon vote being taken <br />thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: <br /> <br />Resolution ~87-80 <br /> <br /> <br />
