MEMO

TO:

FROM:

RE:

DATE;

Anne Norris

Merland Otto, Hakanson Anderson Associates, Inc.
Preliminary Cost Estimates for Park & Recreation Comm.
April 29, 1987

You had requested that we prepare cost estimates on the following
items. We have compared composite costs with several sources
including Means Building Construction Cost Data, Cost Data for
Landscape Construction, LAWCON cost estimates, and comparable
unit bid prices when appropriate.

We are obviously making general assumptions in preparing these
estimates since they are not design specific or even necessarily
site specific. We, thus, have tended towards the higher end of
the cost scale rather than the lower.

Open Skating Rink

You had requested costs with and without labor. However, most of
the labor is associated with excavation and turf establishment.
We have prepared three options depending on the location of the
rink. All assume an approximate 150 x 200' rink.

Fairly level site - create a 9" perimeter berm with 3:1
mowable slopes.

-114 CY topsoil placed on scarified or tilled
perimeter outline @ $10.00/CY

$1,140

-Seed, fertilize, mulch @ $50.00/1,000 SF

175

$1,315

Fairly level site - fairly good topsoil depth
Excavate 150x200' basin to 9" depth
833 CY @ $3.00/CY
Seed, fertilize, mulch @ $50/1,000 SF

$2,500
lr500
$4,000

(May be able to reduce excavation costs
dependent on specific site.)

1
