Site #8, Hunter's Hill <br /> <br />This 4.5 acre park is also situated in the planned urban district <br />zone, and it is marked by steep slopes running into a surface <br />drainage depression. It is partially developed with some play- <br />ground equipment--picnic table, grill and bench. Access is poor, <br />with only the south end of the park open at 144th Avenue N.W., <br />but it does adequately serve the immediate residents. As the <br />urban district grows, this area will not serve all residents <br />adequately. Consideration should be given to acquiring an acces~ <br />road across the north end of the park. Also, consideration should <br />be given to reshaping the park away from such steep slopes on <br />three of the sides, or better landscaping to enhance the site. <br /> <br />Site #9, Peltzer <br /> <br />This 11.9 acres probably has the most potential at present for <br />becoming the nicest passive area in the city. The park is partially <br />developed--with only some playground equipment, picnic tables, <br />grills and benches. During the winter, the pond serves as an <br />ice-skating rink. Access is good from Kamacite Street and 150th <br />Avenue N.W. Consideration should be given to reshaping the area <br />--around the pond, and additional landscaping and smoothing out <br />the terrain. This then would lend itself to such improvements <br />as walking paths, an aesthetic viewing area, and allow for a <br />shelter to be used primarily as a warming facility in the winter. <br /> <br />Site #10, Beaudry <br /> <br />A 5.5 acre park that is strictly a surface drainage marsh. The <br />only access is by 152nd Avenue, on the south side. Because of <br />its location and its function, no improvements are feasible-- <br />and so it should remain as a park in its present state. <br /> <br />Site #11, Greenland Hills 1 <br /> <br />A 15.6 acre park site that has no improvements, relatively poor <br />access along Yolite Street, and it is 9C)% marsh land. This park <br />should be left in its present state, as no improvements are feasible. <br /> <br />Site #12, Greenland Hills 2 <br /> <br />This is an 8.6 acre park like that of Greenland Hills 1. Access <br />is relatively poor, with only a small portion of the park bordering <br />Armstrong Boulevard on the west, and a 20' easement from a cul <br />de sac on the southeast corner of the park. Approximately 90% <br />of the site is low-lying and marshy; it therefore should be left <br />in its present state. <br /> <br />- 16 - <br /> <br /> <br />
