Chairperson Nixt indicated it is easy to focus on rural development as prirnar/ly residential, but <br />what about commercial and quasi-public uses. He questioned what services would'be needed for <br />those residents. He stated this is not just about clustering and ghost plat.ting. He indicated he <br />favors clustering, as he sees it as an opportunity to get something now and.-hold:~something back <br />for later. ... <br /> <br />Commissioner Johnson stated he likes clustering too, but he still wants'to pay attenti0n to the <br />corridor issue. He indicated he ~s not talking, about a ~m-id system, but some way to keep. the .... <br /> <br />Associate Planner Wald suggested with clustering they could' ask the developer during Phase I to <br />plat future streets. <br /> <br />Commissioner Johnson stated if they are going:.to preserve the T0'wn Center they have to keep <br />most cormnercial in the Town Center. · <br /> <br />Commissioner Watson a~eed, noting the reason for the Tovcn Center was to preserve the rural <br />areas. <br /> <br />Commissioner Johnson indicated' theyneed some way to make sure'they will get the land that <br />makes sense. He asked ifthePark and Recreation Commission are looking ar this also. <br /> <br />Associate Planner Geisler stated theyare not at this time,-- <br /> <br />Commissioner Johnson stated they are talking about open 'space and trails, and he ttzinks that <br />Colnmission should look at it. <br /> <br />Commissioner Johnson suggested that maybe they-could have space dedicated to the city without <br />desigmating how that space is used. ' _~ <br /> <br />Chairperson Nixt asked if Staff was more concerned on the direction for 2 ½ acre parcels, or for <br />the rural developing area as a whole;- <br /> <br />Associate Planner Geisler indicated the whole area was their concern, but the focus for now is on <br />the Rural Developing Area. <br /> <br />Associate Planner Wald stated they do not want to see a five acre parcel divided into two 2 ½ <br />acre parcels, at this point either. <br /> <br />Associate Planner Geisler indic.ated they want to come up with something that can be done now <br />with the laud'while allowing some development in the future. <br /> <br />Co~mTtiSsi0ner Van Scoy indicated the problem is they receive concept platting, but it is only <br />concept, and there is no coordination between parcels.
