As you probably know, most of the data used on the profiles is taken from your annual financial report or from state agency sources. However, there are a few items which are traditionally monitored by the city or which are not available elsewhere. These appear on the enclosed form. The updated Financial Health profiles, containing data for the years 1979 through 1982, will be returned to you in February, 1984. Additionally, there are a set of questions on the survey form relating to revenue and expenditure practices during 1982. There is general .-- agreement that 1982 was a difficult year financially for many cities, and the questions are designed to elicit information about the response of cities to this austere budgetary climate.
