A detailed survey of the area revealed that 150 feet of 152nd Avenue was constructed approximately four inches high which caused water to stand in the road. The cause of the standing water along Jaspar Street resulted from the failure of the contractor to cut the crown of the street by approximately one inch. The contractor, Hardrives, Inc., attempted to correct the problem on Jaspar Street by putting in an overlay, 120 feet long, over the west side of the street. There is still approximately a quarter-inch of water which accumulated over a small area. Therefore, the contractor has agreed to cut out that area and the high area on 152nd Avenue and put in a new section of roadway. This work will not be completed until next spring since the weather conditions would prohibit a satisfactory job at this time. I I I I have estimated the cost of the repair on 152nd Avenue to be $2,500.00 and the repair of Jaspar Street to be $800.00. As stated at your October 25, 1983 council meeting, I would recommend retaining $5,000.00 on the project which is 150 percent of the cost of the repairs.
