Council Update <br />Fall Recycling Event set for September 24. The Fall Recycling Day event is scheduled for <br />Saturday, September 24, from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm at the Public Works facility. The purpose of <br />the event is to provide residents an opportunity to properly dispose of items that are generally not <br />accepted through the curbside recycling program, including appliances, electronics, batteries, <br />fluorescent bulbs, scrap metal and tires. Standard recyclables, such as newspaper, cardboard, cans, <br />bottles etc., are also accepted. Mattresses and box springs in any condition will be accepted. New <br />materials accepted this year include carpeting and textiles. The event also includes free document <br />destruction (paper shredding) for residents to securely dispose of papers containing personal data <br />(limit of 3 boxes per vehicle) and free disposal of used oil, oil filters and antifreeze. Attached to <br />the Weekly Update is a Fall Recycling Day Flyer. <br />Monuments of Life Cemetery Tour. Mark your calendars for the annual cemetery tour, offered <br />by the Anoka County Historical Society (ACHS). Each year, different cemeteries within Anoka <br />County are chosen for the October cemetery tour and Ramsey's Trott Brook has been chosen as <br />one for this year. The tour begins at 7:00 p.m., Thursday, October 13, rain or shine, and takes <br />about an hour. Join the Society for an evening walk among the tombstones, as the guide relates <br />their stories.
