Absent: C~issioners Miller, Muller, Schmidt and Schneider. <br /> <br />CGt4MISS IG~ BUSINESS <br /> <br />Case #1: Subcc~nittee Reports: <br /> <br />a) Econcmic- <br /> <br />Cccmissioner Fults stated that he and C~issioner Cox attended a <br />meeting regarding the R[n~ River Bridge crossing and no definite <br />ce~nitments can be made at this time as to when construction will <br />begin. ~ere is enough money available for land acquisition and <br />engineering, but not for construction. <br /> <br />Cc~missioner Cox stated that the County is preparing a resolution to <br />forward to Washington, D.C. supporting the need for the bridge <br />crossing; Ramsey's Council should also prepare a resolution. To get <br />top priority rating on this project, without any of the roads in <br />existence, is very difficult; the County estimates it will be one of <br />the highest count intersections in the State of Minnesota i~iately <br />after it is opened. ~is City should be taking one tremendous lead in <br />keeping this issue before the public and emphasizing b¢~ important <br />that crossing is to Ramsey. <br /> <br />C~L,.,issioner Cox also stated that Ramsey has been rejected for Lawcon <br />grants two years in a r~ because Central Park is in a rural area; <br />hopefully next year Ramsey will get sc~e of it's dollars back through <br />the River ' s Bend Park. <br /> <br />Motion by C~issioner Cox and seconded by C~issioner Fults that the <br />Econcmic Development Cc¢~ission urges City Council to adopt a <br />resolution urging the Washington, D.C. delegation attempt to generate <br />revenue to this area for a bridge crossing across the Rum River. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting yes: Chairman Greenberg, Cccmissioners Cox, <br />Fults, Vevea, Hardin and Wagner. Voting No: None. Absent: <br />Ce~m~issioners Schmidt, Muller, Schneider and Miller. <br /> <br />Oa,m, issioner Cox also stated that interest has been generated in <br />bringing a YMCA facility to the River's Bend Park area. <br /> <br />b) Legislative - <br /> <br />C¢~missioner Cox stated that Bob Johnson, at the County level, is <br /> <br />Page 2 of 5 <br /> <br /> <br />
