Schnelle: Please find enclosed a copy of the Anoka County Solid Waste Abatement Action Paper dated June 12, I f)Sh, which was unanimously approved by the Anoka County Board of Commissioners at their most recent meeting of Tuesday, June 12, 198q.. As indicated in the June 12 paper and supporting documents, the Anoka County Board is firmly committed to solid waste abatement in Anoka County through the following actions: Initiate and cooperate wi.th local municipalities in the establishment of various recycling and composting programs. Pursuing mechanical/processing alternatives with the primary interest in burning facilities of 200 to 400 tons per day. Identifying and taking measures to restrict and reduce as much as possible the flow of refuge which is generated outside of the County from being disposed of in Anoka County. ':4, The County will hire a professional Soli~d Waste Abatement Coordinato.~=.=~=.~r. The County will secure intergovernmental: assistance in working with the State, Metropolitan Council, municipalities, business communities and citizen groups to help accomplish our abatement goals. The County will appoint a Solid Waste Abatement team of various County departments which will serve a coordinating function for the Solid Waste Abatement Coordinator and as a sounding board and advisor to the County Board. The County will appoint a Solid Waste Management Advisory Committee by July I, 1984 in accordance with State legislation to assist in the preparation of the County Master Plan.
