JOB DESCRIPTION <br />CITY OF RAMSEY <br /> <br />POSITION: Clerk Level III <br /> <br />DEPARTMENT: Administration <br /> <br />DATE APPROVED: <br /> <br />OBJECTIVE AND SCOPE: <br /> <br />Performs a variety of clerical and typing duties of a technical <br />nature, handles counter work, answers telephone calls, maintains <br />building, license and all City general files. <br /> <br />Work involves responsibility for the performance of supervised <br />and unsupervised clerical duties and public 'contact work. <br />Employee must apply considerable independent judgement based on <br />knowledge gained through experience in the performance and <br />responsibile specialized duties. Work problems involving <br />important departures from standard policies are reviewed with <br />superior, but ordinarily employees develop their own procedures <br />and carry work through to completion. <br /> <br />Reports to: Deputy Clerk <br /> <br />Has no supervisory responsibility <br /> <br />SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITY: <br /> <br />1) Types from copy, general instruction, and oral or machine <br />dictation a variety of reports, contracts, letters, ordinance, <br />resolutions, minutes and other documents. Composes and writes <br />letters in order to perform the various duties involved in <br />maintaining the license files. <br /> <br />2) Attends public at counter or as receptionists; interviews, <br />screens and refers callers, answers inquiries personally, <br />providing information on department services and functions; <br />maintains appointment schedule for building inspector. <br /> <br />3) Is responsible for the typing and construction of Council, <br />Planning Commission and Economic Development Commission agendas. <br /> <br />4) Is responsible for various data entered and maintained in <br />the Word Processing System. <br /> <br />5) Helps in maintaining all City general files under the <br /> Job Description - Clerk Level III <br /> <br /> <br />
