To: Lloyd Schnelle <br />From: Chief Auspos <br />Re: Hiring New Officer <br /> <br />~f recommendation for the new officer to hired is James Way as he <br />is number three on the eligibility list and the number two person <br />has notified me that he will not be taking the job as offered. <br />Mr. Way has completed his necessary post-secondary schooling and <br />the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension Skills Training Course. <br />Also attached is a letter from POST Board verifying his "eligible <br />for license" status. <br /> <br />As to his wage I recommend that he be put on a one year <br />probationary period at the starting wage for police patrol <br />officer, which is 79% of top patrol. He will, after that year, <br />then advance to a second and third year pay rate and reach top <br />patrol at the start of his fourth year of service. Below is the <br />1984 pay step chart. <br /> <br />1st year 79% of $2335 <br /> 2nd year 86% of " <br /> 3rd year 93% of " <br /> <br />Top Patrol <br /> <br />In other fringe areas he will receive the standard city employee <br />fringe (vacation, holiday, health, sick-time) and will advance as <br />per ordinance and contract. I would like to notify him of <br />approval of his hiring on Wednesday, December 19, 1984 so he will <br />be able to start on January 1, 1985. <br /> <br /> <br />
