MINNESOTA BOARD OF
PEACE OFFICER STANDARDS AND TRAINING
333 SIBLEY STREE~ (SUITE 495)
ST. PAUL, MINNESOTA 55101

August 10, 1983

Executive Director
(612) 296-2620

Dear Chief of Police or Sheriff:

RE: JAMES FREDERICK WAY

This letter will verify that the above-named individual has
passed both the Academic and Skills portion of the POST Board's
licensing examination for peace officers and indicated compliance
with the first aid requirement.

Although this applicant has completed the basic training course,
he/she may have had very little on-the-street experience; there-
fore, a field training program or an intensive local orientation
on-the-job training period is recommended.

This applicant is not exempted from meeting statewide minimum
selection standards for new peace officers. Board rules require
the chief law enforcement officer to maintain documentation of
completion of selection standards for each'new officer. You
.may adopt some of the previously completed selection standards
from this applicant; however, documentation of completion must
be maintained.

A Personnel Notification form, Request for Peace Officer License
form, and the appropriate licensing fee must be submitted to this
office prior to the first day of employment of this applicant.

The "eligible for license" status of this applicant expires three
years from the above date.

If you have any questions about these procedures, call the Standards
Coordinator, Bill Carter, at (612) 296-2620.

Sincerely,

Mark K. Shields
Executive Director

MKS:mb
