Role of the Community School Coordinator with Regard to the Park Board

There was strong feeling that the community school coordinator would be able to
provide support, assistance, and coordination that is difficult for the city staff to
provide without additional cost. Based on the above premise, the role of the
community school coordinator should be to:

1. Serve as a resource and information provider for planning, funding, grants, etc.
2. Provide clerical support for typing up minutes, mailings, and agendas. (This
would eliminate the need for the city secretary to attend (savings of
approximately $500).
3. Provide coordination and liaison to the city manager and City Council.

This would be accomplished by attending all park board meetings; periodic meetings
with the city manager; and additional clerical support.

F. Teen Programs

The topic of teen programs and services generated a great deal of interest and
discussion among task force members. Statistics indicate that there are over 1,000
seventh, eighth, and ninth graders in the city of Ramsey. Further review indicates
that there are minimal programs for teens in the city of Ramsey. The task force
reviewed a wealth of material from the Elk River program and the Coon Rapids
program. There was strong interest that more needs to be done for teens. The task
force is recommending that a separate teen task force be formed to look at
developing a concept to better serve teens and to submit recommendation to the City
Council and to the Advisory Council in June.

G. .Key Communicator/crime Prevention

The task force reviewed material regarding the Key Communicator/Crime Prevention
program in Coon. Rapids and Anoka. Although there was general interest in the
concept, the committee is recommending that the community school coordinator
meet with Mike Auspos, Police Chief for the city of Ramsey, to discuss the concept
and present a recommendation to the City Council regarding the practicality of the
Key Communicator/Crime Prevention program for the city of Ramsey.

H. Role of the Community School Operation with Regard to the RYAA and AAHA

There was general agreement that the community school coordinators should continue
to work with the two athletic associations in terms of scheduling, recruitment,
promoting programs, and coordination of programs and services, etc.

Role of the Community School Operation with Regard to the Day School Program

It was felt that the current relationship should continue.

Role of the Community School Operation with Regard to Committe Organizations
~Jaycees End Lions) and Youth Organizations (Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts~ 4-H)~ etc.
The primary role should be to provide c~ordination, facilitation, scheduling, and
promotation.

4of5
