Keep America Beautiful Commission <br /> <br /> Minutes <br /> <br /> March 6, 1989 <br /> <br />The meeting was called to order by Chairman Terry Miller at 7:00 p.m. <br /> <br />Members present: <br /> <br />Claudia Dodge, Jim Yelle, Jim Gromberg, Glen Hardin, Gary Hoffard, <br />Terry Miller, Merle Mevisson, Dave Bawden, Bruce Bacon, Dale Olson, <br />Steve Bluhm, Kathi Peterson, and Leigh Lundberg. <br /> <br />Minutes of the February meeting were approved. <br /> <br />Clean-up Month update: The first weekend of residential pick-ups was completed. <br /> Approximately 9½ tons of tires, 30 appliance, and 20 batteries were collected. <br /> Pick-ups will continue for the following three weekends. <br /> <br />Clean-up Day update: Clean-up Day is scheduled for May 6th beginning at 9:00 a.m. <br /> Dave Bawden is organizing the picnic which will run from 10:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. <br /> <br />Education: Claudia Dodge gave an overview of proposed plans. A slide presentation <br /> with a narrative is being prepared for use by members for promotion of KAB. <br /> There was some discussion as to the merits of using a video instead of slides. <br /> Future plans would call for a video to be made also. <br /> The buttons have been ordered to give to those who participate in Clean-up Day. <br /> A promotional character, "Randy the Recycler", was discussed. <br /> <br />Solid Waste Subcommittee: Steve Bluhm reported that the major issue to be addressed <br /> by this subcommittee will be the wood chipping project. <br /> <br />Arbor Day: Bruce Bacon reported that there will be a tree planting dedication at <br /> Ramsey Elementary on April 29th. 3000 trees were given to the City for planting <br /> on that day. Volunteers are needed for this event.
