Councilmember LeTourneau asked if there could be an issue with the spread of invasive species <br />when the lower gates are open. <br />Mayor Strommen stated that the Coon Rapids Dam has been updated to act as a barrier against <br />invasive species. <br />City Administrator Ulrich stated that the invasive species issue is still being discussed by Anoka <br />in attempt to gain grant funds for reconstruction of the dam. <br />City Engineer Westby confirmed that it is the hope of the LRRWMO that this action will fulfil <br />the need of the Third Generation as specified by BWSR. <br />3. TOPICS FOR FUTURE DISCUSSION <br />3.01: Review Future Topics/ Calendar <br />City Administrator Ulrich stated that budget related items will continue to appear on the <br />worksession agendas in the next few months. <br />4. MAYOR / COUNCIL / STAFF INPUT <br />Councilmember Kuzma stated that he received a question from a resident asking if the <br />dilapidated sport park sign next to the beautiful overpass could be removed. <br />Community Development Director Gladhill confirmed that staff will follow up and remove the <br />sign within 30 to 60 days. <br />Councilmember Shryock stated that she received an email from a resident asking about <br />development in The COR, noting that apparently there are rumors going around about law suits <br />against the City regarding poor negotiations, using the example of McDonalds. <br />Mayor Strommen confirmed that rumors pop up from time to time, and suggested that <br />Councilmember Shryock should respond that the rumors are not accurate. <br />Councilmember LeTourneau stated that he had visited the Allina Clinic and noticed that the <br />nearby church has a retaining wall without a cap on it. <br />Community Development Director Gladhill replied that the project was closed out from the <br />inspection team but stated that he could reach out to Northgate to determine if they would be <br />interested in putting a top on the wall. <br />Councilmember LeTourneau stated that he recently noticed the large monument with the reader <br />board along Highway 10 has been landscaped and mowed and stated that it looks very nice. He <br />stated that while on a run on the MRT over King's Island, he also noticed that section of the <br />corridor is great and suggested the oxbow is a kayak must. <br />City Council Work Session / September 27, 2016 <br />Page 5 of 6 <br />
