The filter mmterial shall be covered with untreated building paper <br />or a two (2) inch layer of hay or straw or s~m~lar, approved permeable <br />materials. <br /> <br /> 15. The trenches or beds shall be backfilled with the excavated <br />material and slightly crowned above finished grade to allow for settling. The <br />backfill s~all not be compacted to a density greater than that of the original <br />soil. <br /> <br /> 16. The minimum depth of cover over the distribution pipes shall be at <br />least eight (8) inches. The ~m~rimum depth of cover over the distribution pipes <br />shall be no more than thirty-six (36) inches and preferably no more than twenty- <br />four (24) inches. <br /> <br />17. A vegetative co~er shall be established over the soil treatment <br /> <br />area. <br /> <br />150.014G FINAL TRFA2MENT AND DISPOSAL - ALTERNATIVE SYSTM4S <br /> <br />Subd. 1 GENERAL <br /> <br />The contents of this chapter apply to the final treatnmnt and disposal of the <br />effluent of a system constructed in accordance with Chapter 150.014. The <br />intent of this chapter is to provide sewage treatment solutions for those site <br />or soil conditions where a st~mdard system cannot be installed or is not the <br />most suitable type of sewage t~eatment system. <br /> <br />Subd. 2 FLUCRIJATING GROUNII~kTER <br /> <br /> 1. Where natural drainage will not provide three (3) feet of <br />separation between the bottom of the soil treatment area and the highest known <br />or calculated level of the water table, agricultural drain tile may be used to <br />intercept or lower the seasor~l high water table, except within shorelands of <br />public waters. There shall be at least ten (10) feet of undisturbed soil <br />between the sidewall of the soil treatment unit and the agricultural drain <br />tile. <br /> <br /> 2. Within shorelands of public waters, agricultural drain tile may be <br />used to intercept the seasonal high water table, provided the groundwater table <br />has a slope of at least two (2) feet p er one hundred (100) feet toward the <br /> public water, and provided tim drain tile are installed upslope of the soil <br /> treament system. There shall be at least twenty (20) feet of undisturbed soil <br /> between the sidewall of the soil treatment unit and the agricultural drain <br /> tile. <br /> <br /> 3. In all cases, ~he greatest practicable vertical separation <br />distance from the water table shall be provided. <br /> <br />SUBD. 3 RAPIDLY PERMEABLE SOILS <br /> <br /> 1. Filter material for a soil treatment unit using gravity <br />distribution of effluent shall not be placed in contact with original soil <br />having a percolation rate faster than one-half (1/2) m~nute per inch. <br /> <br /> <br />
