In summation, the following was learned:

Computoservice: Addressed costs and specifications of all the hardware
requested, with the exception of the Microfilm Reader. They indicated that they
were still researching the microfilm option, but believed that it was feasible.

Planning Data Center: Addressed costs and specifications of all the hardware
requested, with the exception of the high-speed character printer. They
indicated that they were still researching the printer capabilities, but believed
that it was feasible.

Tale-Terminals: Addressed costs and specifications of all the hardware requested,
with the exception .of the Microfilm Reader and Tape Drive. They indicated that
they were still researching the microfilm option, but believed that it was
feasible. For the Tape Drive, they suggested that the anticipated cost ($10,000-
$15,000), probability of data errors and mechanical difficulties, and time required
to perform the data back-ups far outweighed the value of a Tape Drive for
either retrieval of county tapes or internal data back-ups. They recommended
conversion of county tape to disks usable on the City's system, and internal
back-ups from disk to disk.

Software: The proposals were then reviewed for satisfaction of the software
applications requested. One of the difficulties encountered was that the names of
the applications noted in the Bid Specifications did not always precisely match the

Ramsey Needs Assessment
Recommendations

Page 3
