Current State I of Minnesota population updates indicate that Anoka County will also qualify for the 1986 CDBG program. ! ! ! I total. I In order for Anoka County to continue as an urban county and to qualify for Community Development Block Grant funds, it is important to understand that populations from all cities and townships within Anoka County will be needed. Pursuant to our Joint Cooperation Agreement for the CDBG program with Ramsey, Anoka County is notifying you of your right to "opt-out" and terminate that agreement. The County's current Joint Cooperation Agreement with Ramsey would continue to remain in effect through the next three year program period unless you elect to "opt out" of Anoka County's CDBG program by excluding your population from the total count. Please note that if you should elect not to have your population included in the total population count of Anoka County, such an election will be effective for the entire three year priod during which Anoka County qualifies as an urban county. Your unit of government must notify both Anoka County and the area HUD office no later than March 2, if you do not wish to have your community's population included in the County's During 1981 through 1983, Anoka County received approximately 5.8 million dollars to perform Community Development Block Grant activities in the County. The entire County has benefited through the program which has provided more than 75 CDBG projects such as: economic development projects which have created/44 new jobs and are expected to result in at least another 70 within the next two years; six new senior centers; 200 homes rehabilitated county-wide for very Iow income residents; assistance to two new senior and handicapped housing projects; several public service activities for elderly, handicapped, and unemployed; and public improvements to encourage industrial growth or to benefit lower income residents.
