Cleaning the pond
bottom would allow for better percolation of surface water into the
ground. Enlarging the pond would provide for more capacity and more
surface area for evaporation.

Prior to enlarging the pond easements over the ponding area must be
acquired. Also, soil borings in the area should be completed to
determine ground water levels and the permeability rates of the
existing soils.

Enlarging and cleaning may not be the ultimate solution; however, it
should minimize the problem provided the ground isn't completely
saturated and the existing soils are permeable. The ultimate solution
is to provide a drainage outlet to the Mississippi River.

I

I

I

I

I

I

civil · municipal · planning · soils · la~;d surveying
