City Administrator’s Corner
Serving Your Community . . .
a Lasting Impression
By Kurt Ulrich, City Administrator
residents have decided to donate their valuable time and experience to better the community. All of our commission
members volunteer to devote a night or morning (or two, or more) per month, to help plan our future. City Commis-
sions include the Planning Commission, the Park and Recreation Commission, the Environmental Policy Board, the
Economic Development Authority, and currently, a Comprehensive Plan Steering Committee.
Commission members examine both short-term and long-term consequences of the Citys actions and make rec-
-
ation facilities do we need? What kind of housing do we need? Where are good places to build businesses? How will
sewer and water services be provided? How will our environmental practices of today impact our community tomor-
are not easy questions by any means, and volunteers spend tens of hundreds of hours reading and listening to informa-
tion that will help make the best recommendation for the community.
Community volunteerism comes in many other forms. For example, some residents join with local neighbors and
sign-up for our adopt-a-park program, while others adopt street segments. In fact, one group recently formed to
adopt one of our municipal cemeteries.
brings people together once a year to have a picnic with neighbors, get to know each other a little better, and enjoy a
neighborhood visit from our professional Police and Fire Fighters.
volunteers. Volunteers help do such things as, put on a road race, make pancakes, plan and put-on entertainment, sell
-
teers, businesses, Police reserves, civic groups, athletic associations and others, to make Happy Days a fantastic event.
|
5900 167TH AVE NW RAMSEY, MN
a rway quors
place because of everything that you do.
763.753.2544
Interested in volunteering?
